How to Make your Mozilla Firefox Faster
In older post i have wrote about firefox for blind, this time i will give you some tips to make Mozilla Firefox faster. Mozilla Firefox is one of the popular Internet browsers. Although today, many are already switching to Google Chrome, but for those who are too in love with Mozilla Firefox, it’s rather difficult to move to the other.
Mozilla Firefox is quickly lost when compared to Google Chrome. But with some settings that do on Mozilla Firefox, we can make Mozilla Firefox faster. This is especially for you who wear the old type of computer with small memory capacities.
You can make Mozilla firefox faster by do these tips:
The first step to make Mozilla Firefox faster are:
1.Limit Add-Ons
More add-ons that you use, the more RAM is spent. Disable add-ons that you use less. To compare the performance of memory used when using and without add-ons can be done by trying to run Firefox in safe-mode conditions. You can type command: $ firefox-safe-mode. At the option that appears make sure you check the option: Disable all add-ons.
2.Disable Download History
We recommend that you disable this feature. The more download history is stored, it will reduce the performance of Firefox. It’s easy, select the Tools menu> Options> Privacy then remove the option to “Remember what I’ve downloaded”. It will make Mozilla Firefox faster.
3.Disable Flash
You can make Mozilla firefox faster by disabling Flash. Flash animation that is loaded when you open a web will consume huge RAM resource. The consequence is the loading time is slower and heavier. Even for flash plugin prior to version 9, RAM resources used by are an accumulation of the amount of flash which opened earlier. You can download and install the Flashblock addon to disable it.
The second step to make Mozilla Firefox faster, you must make arrangements in Mozilla Firefox. You can do this by typing about: config in address bar.
1. Limit your Cache Memory Capacity
Every time you open a web page, Firefox will automatically save in the cache memory. By default Firefox uses the maximum amount of RAM you have. That’s why the more you open the web; your computer’s memory is depleted. The trick is: right-click, New> Integer. Type browser.cache.memory.capacity, enter, and enter the number 2048. 2048 here means use the maximum memory cache only 2 Mega. You can try with another number, by multiplying 1024 number.
2. Limit Cache Disk Capacity
By default Mozilla sets the disk cache size of huge MegaBytes. Surely this is waste of memory. Setting it to 5 MB to provide a positive performance, especially for computers with 128 MB of memory and hard disk under the old model. In the filter, type: browser.cache.disk.capacity, change the value 5000.
3. Limit Cache Capacity History
Just as cache memory, the only difference here by Firefox cache allocation is intended to speed up loading pages when you press the back and forward button on the browser. If you rarely use back and forward, you’ll want to set a small value in order to save memory. In the filter, type: browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers, change the value of -1 to 3. Default -1 means to use as much RAM available.
4. Download and Show.
Generally Firefox will wait a while after downloading to start displaying the page. To force Firefox to immediately display the web page you can set the download value. In the filter, set nglayout.initialpaint.delay to 0. If there is not exist yet, right click, New> Integer> nglayout.initialpaint.delay
5. Enabling config.trim_on_minimize features
The trick right-click, New> Boolean, type config.trim_on_minimize. Set the value True. Every time Firefox in minimized, automatic memory in use will be released, so it can be used to process other applications.
6. Load Only What You Need
By default Firefox will eager to pre-download on web page links are likely to click. This tactic similar to Google that it will cache of a search link that it found. Of course this is only wasting the bandwidth and CPU performance so can’t make Mozilla Firefox faster. To disable this feature type in the filter: network.prefetch-next, click twice, for its value to false.
Restart your Mozilla Firefox. You can test yor Mozilla Firefox now. I hope these tips can make your Mozilla Firefox faster.

The real trick is to get Explorer to work decently.
Awesome! Looking forward to see what this will do for my browser.
Although I prefer the Mozilla ten times than IE, It can get a bit bothersome at times. I checked out your tips and some were very effective in speeding up my browser. Thank you!

Your Blog is Fabulous. Good article rather. Very interesting. I admire the valuable information you offered in your article. Excellent submission very good post.
I find your blog as a good source of information. I used firefox and as they said and as I prove, It slower than a turtle. Good thing you have a big idea to share. Now I can use my firefox browser than chrome. Nice!
Am very tired from my mozila fire fox’s speed its very slower then chrome but i can’t leave it because i can use it well then chrome, but now after read your post i think i can increase my browser’s speed, thanks for this pretty nice sharing.
I am glad it can help you.
Enormously educational thanks, I reckon your readers may want a whole lot more well written articles along these lines keep up the excellent effort.
i agree that fire fox becomes slow at times but i think it is due to add ons or something but still i belive on working point of view fire fox is the best
agreed. i still consider Firefox to be the fastest browser. it’s addons that slower the work of Firefox. but Chrome is pretty decent browser too, though
I used it both. If i want to test my new site, i use mozilla firefox, becauese there is an mozilla firefox addon that can’t see in chrome extension, like firebug.
Agreed, Chrome is great and fast but does lack a few really helpful tools. certainly when talking of SEO so its important you have multiple browsers (well, if you need those tools anyway).
I think all round firefox has the edge. Chrome is fast but immature as a product.
Thank you for sharing this post. It is very informative and very helpful in many ways. i will definitely share this to many people.
wow these are great tips, I think the most important would be limit add-ons as these really do slow down browsing speed.
I’ve try this tips and really helpfull.. thanks for share about this tips…
Wow that really did help, thanks for the tip.
I am honestly a massive fan of both Chrome and Firefox. I love the extendability of firefox while I love the speed of chrome. I definitely will use these notes to improve my firefox experience, but still, I’ll use chrome for my general browsing purposes.
heyi m the regular user of mozilla firefox and thanx to u for providing this stuff to make it faster this really work great!!!
Thanks for your tips. Because of some reasons, we can only use firefox. Your information is very helpful for me to set a faster browser. I will definitely try your methods.
I feel like the best thing about Firefox is the range of add-ons availible. So to limit the amount that I use would defeat the purpose of using it. Some of the ‘under the bonnet’ type alterations work quite well though.
Now I know why it takes forever for my browser to load. I have too many add-ons and my history dates back from the stone age! Thank you for reminding us that Firefox was once the fastest browser around and we can still have it function to it’s highest capacity.
It’s Seriously works it made my borwser fast.
Nice tip. Clearing the Cache (History) may run mozilla browser faster.
thnx for sharing, here chrome conquers over firefox, now thnx to this post, I’ll following these steps to see wat happens…
thxn for sharing.
Great article, I use Firefox every day and speed can be a huge issue – biggest improvement that I see is your first point of limiting add-ons!
I use Firefox rather than Google chrome. It has many great performance compared to Google. And some times it becomes slow..I don’t know the reason. But ultimately many prefer Firefox to chrome.U have shared many useful and interesting tips. Thanks !!!
From Limit your cache memory…. now I understand why my firefox takes half of the avialable memory when I open one after one tabs and whole computer becomes slow. Thanks for these great tips
Hi!
I use both Firefox and Google Chrome. I have observed that, although Chrome seems to be faster, Firefox behaviour is better in computers with limited resources. I use Chrome in my laptop, but I also have a Samsung netbook where I use Firefox, because pages load faster and Chrome crashes every now and then in my netbook.
I feel like the best thing about Firefox is the range of add-ons availible. So to limit the amount that I use would defeat the purpose of using it. Some of the ‘under the bonnet’ type alterations work quite well though.
good tips.. but disable flash make my blog widged not cool..
Nothing more to do…. Mozilla 6.0 is out to get itself faster…
However i really liked your blog and would surely subscribe to it.
I still find Mozilla Firefox more convenient to use rather than Google chrome. And to be honest, I just knew that Google chrome is faster than Mozilla. Thanks for this post!
Thanjk yuo for the great tips. I have incorporated tehm all and my FF is running faster. Cannot think of changing browser at teh minute.
In fact I am completely contented with my mozilla , but if I can make it even faster – no problem would be even better!
I think the new version of firefox which Firefox 5.0 is more likely faster than the previous ones. Also it looks and feels like closely similar to Google Chrome.
mozilla has released firefox 6.0, though it still in beta version. It similar to chrome indeed.
Thanks for sharing these tips. Do you have any tips for Chrome because I shifted from firefox to chrome.
you can see my other posts in software category. There is a post about chrome there.
as compare to mozila with chrome…..chrome is faster then mozilla. because add-ones in mozilla its slow all tabs. so chrome is most better then mozilla.
Thx for this.
My firefox is now running faster
I’ve always loved Firefox, and I love fast internet… So thanks for these tips to keep my browser running as quickly and smoothly as possible!!
Laurie
I strictly follow the steps you told its really working and the speed of mozilla becomes increase a little bit but still i think that google chrome is better in speed but mozilla is better in terms of add ons they provide which makes the task very easy.

Thanks a lot for tips. I like Firefox very much but sometimes it works slow.
With your tips i feel that now i dont need any expert who is familiar with above points, you made me expert without taking anyones help thank you very much…………but to be true chrome is more perferable than mozilla firefox
I use firefox in SEO works that I will need the addons and when I am browsing for fun I use chrome. Be practical, use the two browser if you find that firefox is loading slow because of the addons and other elements.
