How to install concrete5 cms on local server

Concrete5 is a new content management system (CMS), which enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications. Best of all, Concrete5 is an open source solution with MIT licence that is freely available to everyone. Concrete5 is designed to be easy to install and set up even if you’re not an advanced user. Many Web hosting services offer a single-click install (ie: softaculous), getting your new site up and running in just a few minutes.

Concrete5 also can install on your local server, so you can learn about it. With this, you don’t have to rent web hosting, domain and internet connection to run it.

You just need Concrete5 installation package and Wamp server software to make it work.

  1. Download Wamp server 2.0 here.
  2. Download the latest version of concrete5 here.
  3. Before we start, make sure you had download the softwares above.
  4. Please install wamp server 2.0 on your Drive C.
  5. Copy Concrete5 on www folder in Wamp server and extract it.
  6. Rename it. (ie. Myconcrete5 or concrete5). Anything you like.
  7. Open your browser (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, IE) and type the following URL: ” http://localhost/ and click phpmyadmin twice.

  • Create a database (ie. concrete5_db)

  • Database created

Find > Your Project > Folder myconcrete5 and then click!

You will see the following screen

Make sure that you get green tick mark for ” Testing Required Items ” at the left side of the screen as shown in the image above.

Fill in the following fields:
Name Your Site, (myconcrete5 or concrete5)
Your Email Address, (ie. admin@mail.com)
Server, fill localhost.
MySQL Username, by default it is ” root “.
MySQL Password, leave it blank.
Database Name, base on above step “concrete5_db”

Uncheck ” Install sample content ” if you don’t want to install with sample content. After filling all the information correctly click on Install Concrete button. If your installation was successful then you will be able to see the following screen, which contains your admin section password.

Click continue to your site. You will see the screen below.

Congratulations. Your concrete5 is ready and you can start to learn about it now.

    I am runing win7 64 with wampserver and i am trying to install concrete 5… i get to the install screen andi get this error “Support for C5 Request URLs
    Concrete cannot parse the PATH_INFO or ORIG_PATH_INFO information provided by your server.” any ideas

      I think the problem is in the mysql database that not support 64 bit. I suggest you to update your wampserver to the latest one. You can download the latest version of wampserver 2.1d to solve it. You can download here.
